Dozens of commuters in Western Australia worked together to help a man trapped on a train platform.

Video of the incident shows the man boarding the train when he suddenly loses his footing and slips into a gap, trapping his leg between the platform and the train.

Railway staff stopped the train from leaving, but when they couldn't get the man out, groups of passengers helped tilt the train carriages to free the man's leg.

Local media reported that the man is believed to have escaped injury and caught the next train out.
