Albuquerque Public School students begin the new school year in just two days but their superintendent is under investigation.

The reason why has not been revealed, but Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education members scheduled a special meeting back in June for  Aug. 11, to discuss the status of Winston Brooks. The meeting was scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

APS Board of Education President Dr. Analee Maestas released a statement last week saying, " a serious personnel issue" came up during Brooks' performance review.

Last fall the APS board decided not to extend his contract beyond June of 2016.

The board put him on an improvement plan after he made some disparaging remarks about New Mexico Education Chief Hanna Skandera on twitter.

The meeting was adjounred after more than five hours. Board members refused to give a statement  or give any information about Monday night's discussion.
