Two Carlsbad residents have won big in the New Mexico Lottery in the past week.
Kathy Gregory came to Albuquerque Monday to claim her $1 million prize from last Saturday’s Powerball drawing.
This came just a few days after fellow Carlsbad resident Andrew Jones won $200,000 off a scratcher ticket.
Gregory’s quick-pick ticket matched the white ball numbers 3, 12, 31, 34, 51, but missed the red Powerball that would have upped her winnings to $90 million.
The New Mexico Lottery said her odds of winning even $1 million were about one in 5.1 million.
"I just kept looking at the computer screen and then back to my ticket," Gregory told lottery officials. "I was just numb. I could not believe it."
Gregory says she plans to donate some of the money to charity and her large family, and to invest the rest.
Jones says he plans to save the money.
