ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Carlsbad man who police say admitted to killing his dad, dismembering his body with a chain saw and then burying him in the backyard has been found guilty of stealing his late father's Social Security benefits.

A federal judge on Tuesday entered an order against 63-year-old Steven Michael Allumbaugh, who had a bench trial in December.

Allumbaugh was accused of intentionally concealing his father's death and drawing nearly $20,000 in his father's Social Security benefits for almost a year. He faces up to 10 years in prison.

His 88-year-old father, Thomas Luther Allumbaugh, was found buried and stuffed in trash bags in different places in his backyard in December 2012 after his grandson in Virginia reported him missing.

Police say his son told them he struck his father during an argument and he fell against a metal chair and died.
