A Bernalillo man allegedly led officers on a high-speed pursuit in a stolen truck Monday afternoon that ended on railroad tracks near the downtown Railrunner station, delaying the train for a short while.

Bernalillo Police Chief Tom Romero said 30-year-old Leo Urioste ran from police after they ran the plates of the truck he was driving and discovered it was stolen.

After swerving in and out of traffic while running for police, Urioste struck a pole with the truck, which ended up on the railroad tracks.

Urioste fled the scene on foot, and was discovered in weeds under a shed nearby shortly thereafter.

Officers from the Santa Ana Pueblo Police, Sandoval County and Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department assisted Bernalillo police in the chase and apprehension of the suspect.
