Before cops caught murder suspect Alex Gallegos Wednesday evening, police said he broke into at least two Taylor Ranch homes.
A mother and her 4-year-old son were inside one of those homes on Staunton Place NW.
He didn't want to go on camera, but the homeowner showed us where the intruder broke in through a front window. There was a blood stain on the carpet.
He said his wife was busy cleaning and didn't know the man had broken in until after he ran out the back door.
"She came and hugged me, and told me that she heard a noise in the front window, and when she went to see what happened, she saw the glass on the floor with blood," said neighbor Alida Davila-Larrichio.
The homeowner said the intruder didn't hurt his wife or son, but they are so shaken up, they can't sleep at the home anymore.
"She ran and grabbed her child, and ran to look for help in the next house," said Davila-Larrichio.
Cleaning trucks were parked outside the house next door Thursday morning.
That homeowner didn't want to talk to KOB on camera, but told us she's busy cleaning up a bloody mess inside.
Police said they found an injured Gallegos hiding inside a closet after he also broke into that house.
"For this to happen right here, two homes away, is really scary," said Davila-Larrichio.
Police tell us all that blood was from a gunshot wound Gallegos sustained as he tried to run away from police.
