New Mexico Game and Fish with assistance of Santa Fe Police tranquilized and will relocate a mother bear and her cub that took refuge in a tree a couple blocks from an elementary school.
Police said Friday morning the bear was treed near Atalaya Elementary in the city's southeast.
Police didn't want the morning traffic to scare the bears and asked parents driving their children to school to avoid the area.
The mother weighs approximately 160 pounds and her baby weighs around 75 pounds. Both are healthy and will be relocated.
