ALBUQUERQUE, NM -- Saturday, two suspects were arrested after police caught them breaking into a home near 5th and Menaul.

"It was like, it was scary. It was pretty close to home," Diane Trujillo said.

Trujillo was home with her grandkids Saturday morning when her street turned into a crime scene. She says she first knew something was wrong when she heard gunshots.

"We heard boom boom boom three times, she thought it was a backfire and I said I don't think it was, and then we heard three more and then like a gun being cocked again to fire off again," Trujillo said.

Police say Saturday morning two suspects broke into a house with two people inside. Someone called APD, and officers got to the scene while suspects were still there.

"As officers were arriving, a shotgun was discharged. No officers returned fire. The subjects fled on foot. A perimeter was set up, the subjects were located and are in custody at this time," APD Lt. JJ Griego said.

Police say no one was shot during the incident. Trujillo says she's glad no one else was injured, and she hopes the people involved learn that criminal activity isn't welcome on her street.

"I just hope whoever did it realizes what he did- that's too close to kids and everything else," Trujillo said.
