ALBUQUERQUE -- The final suspect in a deadly home invasion on Wellesley NE turned himself in late Monday, according to Albuquerque police.

Luis Carlos Grajeda, Jr., 41, was taken into custody by the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department on an outstanding felony warrant for his involvement in the Aug. 15 home invasion.

Grajeda is being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center on several charges, including first-degree murder, aggravated burglary and aggravated assault.

APD plans to execute a search warrant on Grajeda's truck later Tuesday.

Police said Grajeda drove the getaway car while three other men, 18-year-old Edgardo Marquez-Ordonez, 22-year-old Luis Vargas-Rivera and 20-year-old Miguel Marquez, Jr., broke into the home in the 3400 block of Wellesley.

One of the residents of the home shot and killed Marquez-Ordonez during the break-in, according to an APD official.

Vargas-Rivera also sustained a gunshot wound during the invasion and was arrested after receiving treatment at a local hospital. Marquez was also arrested four days after the incident.

Vargas-Rivera and Marquez are charged with murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, assault with intent to commit a violent felony, conspiracy and tampering.

APD spokesman Tanner Tixier said the murder charges stem from a state statute that says if a person is in the commission of a crime and a person related to the crime dies—regardless of intent—the others can be charged with murder as well.
