RIO ARRIBA COUNTY -- New Mexico State Police say they are investigating two Rio Arriba County employees on allegations of fraud and embezzlement.

It is unclear who the two employees are, and whether or not they are still currently working for the county during the investigation.

Cpt. Quintin McShan of the Rio Arriba County Sheriff's Department said that the office responded to an August 3 call about a group of individuals at La Arboleda Chimayo Community Center who were "conspiring to use the county facility for private gain."

The sheriff's office put together a preliminary investigative packet and identified the suspects, neither of which have been released yet until the suspects have been charged.

Monday, the Rio Arriba County Sheriff's Department released the investigative packet to State Police.

After reviewing the packet, Chief Pete Kassetas determined Tuesday he would assign the State Police's Investigation Bureau to investigate the case.

The investigation is unrelated to the federal investigation into allegation's Sheriff Rodella and his son chased and assaulted a man while out of uniform.
