Dropping off children at school can be challenging, but an Albuquerque mom says drivers around Manzano High School don't follow the traffic rules and she's worried someone could get hurt.

Gina Chavez, a mother of two Manzano students, tells KOB Eyewitness News 4 that drivers are going too fast down Lomas and kids are illegally crossing that street.

"It's so nerve-wrecking sometimes just seeing you know kids almost get hit, you know, parents not observing rules," she said.

Albuquerque Public Schools and APD handle the area surrounding the school. Police said they're aware of the concerns and they've heard from other parents.

Officers checked out the area Thursday morning and plan to make recommendations for improving safety.
