ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) - Two immigrants suspected of being in the country illegally are accused of beating and stabbing a Chaves County dairy worker who had been tasked with firing one of the suspects.
The Roswell Daily Record reports 21-year-old Ismael Chairez and 18-year-old Esequiel Chairez were arrested this week after authorities found the injured employee early Tuesday.
According to the Chaves County Sheriff's Office, the 35-year-old employee at the Cheyenne II Dairy was beaten with a baseball bat and stabbed.
Chaves County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Herrington says the men arrested are brothers, and that they admitted to the attack. He says the attack appears to be in retaliation for one of the brothers being fired.
It was not known if the men had attorneys.
