Robbery suspect shot and killed by employee at SW Albuquerque Dairy Queen

A robbery suspect was shot multiple times by a Dairy Queen employee while attempting to rob the restaurant at 427 Isleta SW just after 6 p.m. Thursday evening, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office.

The man died after being transported to UNM Hospital.

A BCSO spokesperson said deputies were on a traffic stop in the area when they heard shots nearby, and upon arriving at the Dairy Queen, found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to BCSO, the man demanded money from an employee at the store, who gave him cash. A fellow employee then opened fire on the robber, shooting him multiple times.

A BCSO spokesperson said employees at the Dairy Queen immediately locked the business down and sheltered inside until depuies arrive.
