ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Albuquerque police have issued an arrest warrant for an attorney accused of embezzling $130,000 from his client.
Police spokesman Tanner Tixier says white collar crime detectives have been unable to find Cody Kelley.
The victim told authorities that Kelly represented him when he won a settlement in a lawsuit against the City of Gallup for damages to his restaurant.
Tixier says the settlement money was sent to Kelly in the form of four separate checks. The money was to be disbursed to the victim for restaurant repairs.
Authorities say the checks were put into Kelley's bank account and the money spent within three months.
Kelley faces arrest for embezzlement involving more than $20,000.
Anyone with information regarding Kelley's whereabouts is asked to call police.
