Steve Stucker

Steve Stucker is the co-anchor and weatherman on New Mexico's top-rated morning program, Eyewitness News 4 Today, which airs weekdays from 5 to 7 a.m., and Eyewitness News 4 Midday at Noon.

Along with accurate and timely forecasts, Steve entertains viewers with a look at the lighter side of the news, his offbeat ideas, and unique perspective on life.  Every once in a while, he appears on air as Elvis, Martha Stewart, Richard Simmons, Arnold Sportsnweather (Schwarzenegger), Mother Stucker, Patty O'Furniture or his alter ego Ed Noid.  He also dresses up in a wild outfit during his live broadcasts of the AIBF each year that he claims make him the Most Photographed Human at the Balloon Fiesta! Along with an ability to make almost anyone laugh, Steve's love and support of people and animals is well known through the state.  KOB TV puts those passions to good use with special on-air features each week that help pets and NM Foster children find permanent families.

With over 17 years on the morning show, (he started in 1990) Steve lays claim to more continuous weather casting experience than any other TV forecaster in New Mexico.  Prior to his TV career, Steve worked was an on-air Radio Personality and Program Director in Albuquerque at Q106 & 93.3 KOB FM.  He earlier worked at stations in Iowa, Missouri, Texas & Oklahoma.  He has lived in the Land of Enchantment since 1983.

Steve has received many honors in his years on KOB TV.  He was selected as the People's Choice winner for New Mexico's Favorite TV Personality eight  times, and was inducted into the People's Choice Hall of Fame..  Steve has also been tabbed by readers of The Alibi as their Best of ‘Burque award winner for Favorite TV Personality for five years in a row.    Readers of Albuquerque The Magazine and other publications have given him many other awards and accolades. Steve was twice selected as Media Volunteer of the Year by the Greater Albuquerque Volunteer Association and as the Animal Humane Association's Ambassador of the Year.

Steve is well known throughout NM for his incredible community involvement, working with dozens of nonprofit groups each year on special projects and fundraisers. He is highly sought after as a Motivational Speaker for civic organizations, church groups and corporate events....and may have served as Master of Ceremonies for more events than any other person in our states history!   He especially enjoys speaking with students about the importance of staying in school and making their dreams come true. In addition, Steve is a weekly visitor at the Juvenile Detention Center, where he counsels and encourages youthful offenders.  He also speaks to inmates at state prisons about changing their lives, and becoming productive members of society.

His favorite activity is spending time with his family. Steve and his wife Rose (a local Realtor) have been married 15 years, and have four children: Dean is 24, Georgiana is 11, Kayleah is 10 and Stephanie is 6.   Dean will graduate from Highlands University in 2008 and plans to be an elementary school teacher.  The girls all attend APS. The Stuckers spend a lot of time at soccer matches, swim meets, birthday parties and school events.  They are actively involved at church, and love spending time outdoors, especially  poolside on hot NM afternoons.

Steve was formerly a professional dog trainer and has trained well over 1,000 of his four-legged friends. He helped establish an award winning program that teaches students at Albuquerque's YDDC to train hard-to-adopt dogs from animal shelters so they can be placed in loving homes.

Steve may be best known for his “celebrity weather dogs” appearing on air with him every Friday morning for parade of Pets.  He has several dogs of his own: Tuffy a Miniature Schnauzer),  Buster a brindle Boxer and Squeaky a toy Chihuahua.). All three make regular appearances on the morning show.  Steve's love of animals spills over onto the airwaves each Friday morning on Eyewitness News 4 Today with Steve's Parade of Pets. Viewers are invited to submit their favorite photos of their personal pets. Steve shares the photos along with interesting tidbits about the pets' personalities, habits and owners.
