City adds buses to cope with demand

Albuquerque’s newest Park-and-Ride bus stop opened on the Westside Tuesday. On Wednesday, city officials are adding more buses to the route to cope with all of the demand.

There is parking for 176 cars at the new bus center near Coors and Ellison and it was filled by 7:00 a.m. the day the new stop opened. Another 110 cars were in the overflow lot.

“There are a lot of people that use the bus and the parking lot, yesterday, when I got back there, it was full, plus the dirt was full,” said commuter Chad Gillies. “Riding the bus is a real popular thing right now.”

The new Park-and-Ride center serves eight bus routes and replaces the Cottonwood Mall and Montano Plaza stops.
