ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Some 2,600 workers at Sandia National Laboratories will get checks ranging from $18 to $930 as part of a labor lawsuit settlement.
Sandia said it has reached a $2 million settlement agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor over the way the nuclear weapons lab handled worker overtime.
The dispute centered on the proper way to calculate overtime for hourly workers when Sandia shifted 10 years ago to a policy that allowed employees to work five days one week and four days the next, giving them a three-day weekend every other week.
Lab officials maintain that they did nothing wrong and that the Labor Department’s findings related to record-keeping deficiencies that have been corrected.
