ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Lovelace and the University of New Mexico are teaming up to improve rehabilitation medicine in the state.

They cut the ribbon Wednesday on the newly renamed Lovelace UNM Rehabilitation Hospital on Elm Street near Martin Luther King and I-25. Hospital leadership says the partnership will bring more providers and cutting edge technology to the hospital.

"And the say the benefits of that will reach far beyond Albuquerque," said Derrick Jones, CEO of Lovelace UNM Rehabilitation Hospital. "The combination of their academic mission -- the university's academic mission -- along with our specialization and rehabilitation medicine is going to be really great for New Mexico and for the Albuquerque area and really for the Southwest."

The Lovelace UNM Rehabilitation Hospital in the state is to be accredited in six program areas by the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
