ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- After losing their season opener, the Atrisco Heritage boys basketball team has won 14 of their last 15 games.

The Jaguars made it all the way to the state semifinals last year and returned all of their starters, including big man Jordan Arroyo. The senior is 6-6 and averaging 13 points and eight rebounds a night.

Head coach Adrian Ortega said despite those impressive numbers, Arroyo is still not getting any in-state interest to play at the next level.

"Most definitely surprising to me, especially the in-state institutions," Ortega said. "It's shocking why they haven't reached out. I do know there are some out-of-state institutions that hopefully they come around. The kid is a 4.0 kid. He's already qualified for college. He's qualified for the presidential scholarship at UNM, so he's a gem."

"My talent has just kind of come this year and the hard work is kind of showing off now, so it makes sense if they missed it," Arroyo added. "But it's OK."
