No. 1 and unbeaten Manzano will take on La Cueva Saturday afternoon for the Class 6A state championship.

Manzano has never won a state title. Not only are they playing another metro area school, but they both get to play it on their home field.

"That's going to be an awesome environment for these kids to be a part of, and that's something they're always going to be able to say to their kids down the road," Manzano head coach Chad Adcox said. "'I was a part of the first-ever all APS state championship' and that's a pretty cool deal.'"

"It's been a great year," added running back Xavier Ivey Saud. "We knew if we came together that we could show this potential that we had and that's what we came to do."
