Unbeaten La Cueva, Manzano to battle this Friday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The La Cueva Bears are getting ready for their biggest game of the season. La Cueva will take on Manzano this Friday night.


It's a battle of two unbeaten teams: the Monarchs are No. 1 while the Bears are No. 2. Both look like they have the pieces to win it all this year.

"I think you have to address the elephant in the room for us," La Cueva head coach Brandon Back said. "It is a big game 1 versus 2 is something special to play for when you're in that position, especially in district."

It's only midseason and the start of district play, but there's no denying this is a big game.

"Everybody in the student body is excited about it. It's a huge game," La Cueva receiver Reece Wilsonson. "There's people who don't even have kids in high school football that are coming to watch it.  It's a huge game obviously, but we're just going to take it one step at a time just like it's any other week."
