LOS LUNAS, N.M. -- It's still early in the high school basketball season, but the Los Lunas boys are staking their claim as one of the top teams in Class 5A.

The Tigers are unbeaten five games into the season with recent victories over Class 6A challengers La Cueva and Cleveland. This weekend's round-robin event was a good gauge for the Tigers, but they realize there's still work to do.

"This tournament showed us where we've been and where we are at this point in the season," junior Zanen Zeller said. "Although it's the beginning, it showed us how good we can be."

"You know, everyone's high on us right now because we just beat Cleveland, but we just told them we watched the film and there's a lot to get better at," added head coach Travis Julian. "We're nowhere close right now."
