ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The marquee matchup in high school football this week takes place Saturday afternoon when Manzano hosts Rio Rancho.

Both teams are unbeaten. It's a rematch of last year's state semifinal game where the Rams ended the Monarchs season. While there are some returning players from both teams, the Monarchs are trying to treat this just like any other game.

"We mentioned it that we definitely want to come out and play these guys well because this is the team that ended our season. That's something we want to fight for," Manzano head coach Chad Adcox said. "But all and all, it's just the next game."

"I had a lot of mistakes at quarterback in the playoff game," Monarchs quarterback Jordan Byrd added. "I have to make sure I can excel through that and just have some fun out there."
