RIO RANCHO, N.M. -- The defending state football champs hit the field Wednesday night as the Rio Rancho Rams and the La Cueva Bears squared off in a scrimmage.

The Bears are senior-dominated and have plenty of fire power at the skill positions. The Rams, on the other hand, are trying to deal with a number loss to graduation.

However, scrimmages are a great way to see how stack up against the competition.

"We have always had pressure on our back, a target, and we take that with a grain of salt," Rams head coach David Howes said. "We're about our process, week-in-and-week-out deal, and we're going to focus on getting these kids better and these young kids stepping up tonight."
