Position: Morning co-anchor

Year Hired at KOB: 2015

First TV Appearance: My first appearance on television was actually on the other side of the microphone.  I was interviewed by a local station in my hometown of Tyler, Texas as I prepared to compete for Miss Texas USA.  Little did I know that my path would lead me right back to that station later in life, anchoring the morning newscast where once I had been featured!

Other TV jobs/markets/stations: KETK and KFXK in Tyler, TX

Favorite News Story: The story that still stays in my heart was an incredibly moving story with a family of a young girl battling cancer.  Her parents invited me to her final birthday party.  The strength and faith I saw that day was a true blessing.  Young Phoebe has since passed away, but the courage of her family continues to be an inspiration for me.

Most Memorable Interview: I’m not sure I can truly call it an “interview,” but it was certainly memorable when my dog made her modeling debut for a segment about creative Halloween costumes for pets.  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and we were broadcasting from a costume store.  It was a great television moment, but my dog wasn’t very talkative!

First Reporting Story:  I really wanted to impress my boss with my first assignment, so I pitched a fairly complicated story about taxes.  It turned out to be even more complicated than I imagined, involving what seemed like a million different tax codes and laws.  It was bit overwhelming.  In the end I was glad I did the story, and it taught me a lot of useful information about the tax law!

Role Model: My late grandfather (or as I called him, “Papa Roy”) will always be my role model. My grandpa was the nicest person I’ve ever met and everyone who met him immediately fell for his huge smile and personality.

Why I'm A Journalist: I’ve always loved writing since I could get my hands on a pen or a keyboard, and I love meeting new people and trying to make a difference in their lives. I feel like those two things really embody journalism.

Most proud of: I’m most proud of the relationship I have with my family.  At a time when many of my friends and colleagues were moving away, I made a committed choice to remain in Tyler, Texas for eight additional years to help care for my grandparents.  I feel my choices have only strengthened the bond I have with my parents and brother.

Favorite thing about New Mexico: The view! I feel like I’m constantly on vacation when I see the beautiful scenery.

Why I fell in love with New Mexico: Everyone I’ve met so far has been so nice and welcoming. The people of New Mexico have made me feel right at home.

Hidden Talent: I love scrapbooking! Give me a hot glue gun and some glitter and I will be occupied for at least 16 hours.

Dream Interview:

Favorite TV  Program: I’ll admit it, I love “Say Yes to the Dress” on TLC.

Favorite good causes: I will do anything to help animals. I love volunteering at local animal shelters and getting the word out about lost or abused animals. I wish I could foster, but my little shihtzu is a tad bit too possessive for that.

Alma Mater: University of Texas at Tyler

Hometown:  Tyler, TX
