AZTEC, N.M. -- Parents in Aztec have an important question on lips right now: Why?

Parents were reunited with their children at McGee Park Thursday morning after the shooting at Aztec High School. They all want to know why a gunman targeted their community.

"Honestly, I heard on Facebook and I got in my car and I went probably about 100 to get here," said one parent, Tiffany Keith. "I was very scared and I was praying the entire way.

Different families all share the same stories, racing to find their loved ones in the aftermath of the shooting.

"Try to figure out how I can actually let my kid go back to school," said Kim Ketron, another parent.

Throughout the day, parents have patiently stood in assigned waiting areas, hoping to hear their child was safe. Leaning on one another, they worked to track down each other's children. They often held hands and prayed.

While law enforcement continues to work to piece the tragic event together, the parents and the community will continue to hold each other close and pray hard.
