Border Patrol agent assaulted in Deming

EL PASO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials say they are helping to investigate an assault against a Border Patrol agent assigned to Deming.

The agent, who was off-duty, was discovered on the side of the road by a motorist Friday night around 11 p.m., officials said. He suffered injuries to his head, chest and hands, and was transported to a nearby hospital.

He is currently in stable condition.

The FBI, Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office and El Paso Police are also assisting with the investigation.
