A car plowed into a clothing store in Santa Fe Tuesday evening nearly two weeks after another vehicle crashed into a popular café in the same complex.

Police say a 46-year-old woman driving a white sedan jumped the curb in the parking lot and ended up 30 feet inside the Cato clothing store on Cerrillos Road. The crash broke through the windows and scattered racks as customers fled. There was no reported structural damage to the score.

No one was hurt, but Santa Fe Police Department Public Information Officer Greg Gurule said the driver was taken to St. Vincent Hospital for evaluation.

“She was wearing a leg brace and investigators are looking into whether she pushed the gas pedal instead of the brake,” Gurule said.

On March 2, an elderly woman crashed her car into the Jambo Café located near Cato. A police spokesperson said the driver hit the accelerator by mistake. A few people were hurt in that crash, but none were life-threatening.

The Jambo Café is located right next door to Cato.
