CLOVIS, N.M. -- Just about everyone nowadays uses a credit or debit card, but police in Clovis are advising people to be a bit more cautious before using their cards.

This past week, police say they've discovered several skimmers at ATMs throughout the city. Skimmers are usually placed on ATMs or gas pumps and are capable of stealing your credit or debit card information.

"It doesn't surprise me, but needless to say I'm disappointed that it is happening here in such a small town," said Kody Vigil, who lives in Clovis.

Police wouldn't say where they found the skimmers, but they believe they know who suspect is. Residents said they hope they hope they find him soon.

"What if someone hacks my account and they steal my money? I'm not going to be able to buy groceries and provide for me and my son," said Matthew Quintana, who lives in Clovis. "That's horrible because we work hard for what we got, you know? We're out here every day working and trying to better for ourselves."

While police continue to search for the accused culprit they say if you have information you should contact Crime Stoppers (575) 763-7000 or the Clovis Police Department (575) 769-1921.
