LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Police in Las Cruces say a dead body found near Branigan Park last month has finally been identified.

They say the body of 28-year-old Daniel Thomas Kearney of Las Cruces showed no obvious signs of trauma and investigators still don't know what caused his death.

A person working in the area discovered the body in an undeveloped lot near Fire Station 3 and Branigan Park on Oct. 19.

Police say the body was sent to the New Mexico medical investigator's office for autopsy and was positively identified as Kearney.

A relative reported Kearney missing on Oct. 11.

Kearney reportedly suffered from several health issues and although he had an apartment, he associated with people within the Las Cruces homeless community.
