ROSWELL – For the past several decades, Dean Baldwin Painting in Roswell has been a leader in aircraft painting. The company announced Monday it is adding 70 new manufacturing jobs to the area.
“It’s good to see the progress that we made,” Gov. Susana Martinez said. “We want to keep fighting for our state to be successful to make sure that companies like Dean Baldwin are being successful; that the employees are successful.”
Martinez said it’s companies like Dean Baldwin Painting that have the potential to attract more business to the state.
“We have the workforce that makes this Possible,” Martinez said.
Barbara Baldwin, CEO of Dean Baldwin Painting, agrees.
“We do this kind of quality work here in New Mexico because of the people that live here, because of the people that work here,” Baldwin said.
Martinez also hopes to expand New Mexico’s economy.
“I mean, I think what we want to do is diversify the economy. We cannot continue to rely on our military bases and our national labs,” Martinez said.
The state is contributing $1 million in economic development aid to help Dean Baldwin Painting grow. The company employs 130 people already.
