Archery equipment used for youth activities stolen in Artesia

ARTESIA, N.M. -- Kathy Kolt is the president of the Eddy County Shooting Range Archery Division. Kolt has been working with underprivileged children in the Artesia area for more than a decade, encouraging outdoor activity.

However, the children in the program lost out on one activity after someone stole all the archery equipment from the Eddy County shooting range in late October.

"You would think out of all the bows we had, they could leave a couple. No, I don't have one bow." Kolt said.

Kolt said this isn't the first time all of her equipment has been stolen.

"Our original equipment was donated by friends of NRA," she said. "And when that was stolen, I went back to friends of NRA and I cried and said 'You got to help me.' So they helped me with more than I originally had. So that's twice they helped me; twice I've been robbed."

The Eddy County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating. If you have any information about this case, contact deputies at (575) 887-7551 or Kolt at (425) 221-7700.
