Police charged Kristen McLean with embezzlement and fraudulent use of a credit card and booked her into the Lea County Detention Center. The Eunice Public Schools reach out to State Police following an initial inquiry regarding embezzlement, NMSP Public Information Officer Carl Christiansen said.

McLean did not respond to an officer's attempts to interview her, nor did she return phone calls, Christiansen said. Police investigated and then arrested McLean based on that investigation's findings.

NMSP did not specify the nature of the crimes McLean allegedly committed.
