Griego was found guilty Thursday on five of eight counts, including bribery and fraud, for using his position as a lawmaker to profit from the 2014 sale of a state-owned building in Santa Fe.

There's another trial coming for Griego. In this case, he's facing of campaign finance abuse. New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas will also prosecute that case.

"What I'm also hoping is this case gets other actors to finally produce the reforms that taxpayers deserve," Balderas said on Friday. "There should be greater reporting, greater transparency, and greater ethical training for every elected official in New Mexico."

Griego faces 22 felony and misdemeanor charges in that second case. There is no word yet on when it will go to trial.
