HOBBS, N.M. -- A SWAT standoff lasting an hour and a half in Hobbs ended with the arrest of a 39-year-old man accused threatening his estranged wife.

Juan Torres faces several charges including kidnapping and shooting from an occupied dwelling following the Monday morning incident.

Hobbs police initially responded to a domestic dispute call where they say Torres threatened to kill his wife and anyone she close to her. Torres allegedly shot a round from a gun into a wall.

Police say the woman and two kids got out of the house, but two other children were left inside with Torres. He also refused to leave the house.

It took about 90 minutes before Torres released the children unharmed and surrendered, police say. Officer also found two guns and a bullet hole in a bedroom wall.
