Man dies in head-on collision on State Road 529 near Hobbs

HOBBS, N.M. (AP) — Authorities say a 73-year-old Hobbs man died from injuries suffered in a head-on collision with another motorist.

New Mexico State Police say a 21-year-old driver from Pinon crossed the center line on State Road 529 west of Hobbs on Monday morning and collided head-on with a vehicle driven by Lawrence Coll.

Coll was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle was brought to a hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
