HIDALGO COUNTY, N.M. – State officials are warning drivers in Hidalgo County to use caution in the midst of high winds in the area, causing low visibility due to blowing dust.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation is monitoring the roadway and will provide updates when conditions improve.

Similar conditions were blamed for a 25-car pileup on I-10 near Lordsburg last week that killed six and sent many others to the hospital.
