FARMINGTON, N.M. – Farmington Police say the body of a man who drowned Friday at Lake Farmington after attempting to retrieve a raft has been found.

FPD Spokesperson Georgette Allen said 31-year-old Jamie Tolbert drowned after trying to swim to a raft he had seen floating in the water on Friday around 6 p.m. He began to "struggle and went under the water," at which point another man tried to go and help out.

That second man began to struggle himself, but returned to shore safely.

Several agencies were helping to find Tolbert Saturday, includind Farmington Police and members of the New Mexico State Police dive team.

The lake was closed to boats for some time Saturday as authorities searched, but it has now been reopened by the city.
