NMSP investigating multiple deadly crashes across the state

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico State Police say they are looking into a deadly crash that killed one man in Eddy County near Malaga.

Police say they responded Saturday night to the crash scene, where they found out that the driver – Robert Taylor of Tatum, New Mexico, wasn’t wearing his seat belt.

Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police are also investigating a crash in Otero County where a Jeep went over a cliff, falling into a canyon between Alamagordo and Cloudcroft. 

The Jeep was being driven by 25-year-old Edward Pitkus III, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger was able to get out and get help. 

State police say neither of them were wearing their seat belts, and alcohol may have played a factor.
