NMSP: Peñasco man charged with sexually assaulting teen at least 30 times

TAOS, N.M. -- New Mexico State Police officers arrested a Peñasco man after they say he sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl on multiple occasions.

Police charged 43-year-old James Brown with several charges including three counts of criminal sexual penetration of a minor after taking him into custody on Tuesday. According to NMSP Lt. Elizabeth Armijo, investigators found evidence showing Brown assaulted the teen at least 30 times since March 2016.

State investigators took over the case on a request from the Rio Arriba County Sheriff's Department. Brown also faces kidnapping and assault charges.
