Police: Babysitter admits drug use before finding infant dead

A Santa Fe woman is facing prison time for the death of an infant left in her care.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that Rachel Smith told police she did heroin while she was watching a 3-month-old boy.

She told police she woke up after doing the heroin to find the boy wasn’t sleeping.

The child’s cause of death hasn’t been determined yet.

Authorities said that the parents of the child are not facing any charges.
