ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A New Mexico state senator is calling on the Air Force to let the public weigh in on a proposal to expand military training flights.

Those flights – which take off from Holloman Air Force Base in Otero County – would expand over the Gila National Forest and populated areas, including Silver City.

State Sen. Howie Morales claims meetings were held in other affected areas, but there was no attempt to allow people in Silver City to have their voices heard.

He argues the F-16 flights could potentially create major disturbances.
