THE BIG STORY

Fall may be starting soon, but summer weather is still sticking around for the next few days.

Following a severe thunderstorm watch in parts of eastern New Mexico that will go through late Sunday night, drier conditions will begin to settle in at the beginning of the work week.

HURRICANE ACTIVITY

Hurricane Jose is staying in the Atlantic for now and isn’t expected to make landfall, but as it moves up the East Coast, those coastal states could experience some high winds and rain as a byproduct.

Hurricane Maria, meanwhile, formed Sunday and is currently tracking to make landfall in some Caribbean islands by later this week.

ACROSS THE STATE

  • Roswell: Highs mostly in the mid-90s this week, chances for showers that get stronger as the week goes on.
  • Farmington: Small chances of rain on Thursday and Friday, as well as the return of highs in the 70s as a new season gets underway.
  • Albuquerque: Highs in the mid-80s this week, with small chances of showers as well as wind gusts at the end of the week. Lows in the high 50s to low 60s.
