FARMINGTON, N.M. -- A Farmington man in search of Wi-Fi found himself in a fight with law enforcement last Wednesday.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office says deputies discovered 20-year-old Adrian Head trespassing near a Crouch Mesa residence along County Road 5582 in the afternoon. When confronted by the deputies, they say Head denied his identity, became hostile and resisted arrest. Authorities say he then punched one of the deputies on the chin.

According to authorities, the injuries seen in Head's mugshot were from a prior incident and not the recent encounter with law enforcement.

"We don't want the public to look at the mugshot and think we had something to do with the battery that is very evident that he had sustained," San Juan County Undersheriff, Shane Ferrari said.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
