According to San Miguel County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Susan Lilly, deputies found two dead girls Friday on a farm near Norwood, Colo. Deputies estimated the girls were between 7 and 10 years old, and investigators believe they have been dead for at least two weeks.

The sheriff's office did not identify the suspects, saying it will release their names once they are formally booked. They face second-degree murder, criminally negligent homicide and felony child abuse charges. The four are jailed at the San Miguel County Jail in Telluride, about 35 miles from Norwood.

"In my 37 years as sheriff, I have never seen anything as cruel and heartless as this," Sheriff Mill Masters said.
