Week 6 Observations

Artesia and Los Lunas are turning into a couple of must-watch teams.  The two have provided some of the best games of the season so far.  The Bullodgs followed up last week's shootout against Cleveland with another back-and-forth battle versus Los Lunas where Artesia scored in the final minute to win it.  I hope we see these two teams again in the postseason.

Rio Rancho does not look as sharp as they did in the first couple weeks of the season.  The Rams have some injuries to overcome and despite a 42-20 win over Sandia they need to tighten the screws before this week's big rivalry game against Cleveland.

By the way, the Rio Rancho-Cleveland rivalry game should always be scheduled as the final one of the regular season.

GAMES TO WATCH (This week has two major matchups among others)

La Cueva at Manzano: These two undefeated power teams go head to head in a battle to determine who is the team to beat at state this year.

Cleveland at Rio Rancho:  In recent years, this matchup has become one of the top rivalries in the state.

Hobbs at Las Cruces:  The high-scoring Eagles are coming off a bye.  Let's see how they do on the road against a hot/cold Las Cruces squad.

Piedra Vista at Cibola:  I am curious to see how the Cougars perform after last week's upset over Eldorado.
