It's rivalry week.  The biggest of them all is the Las Cruces-Mayfield game.  It will be played Friday night at Aggie Memorial Stadium.  I still find it amazing how many people this game draws every year.  Traditionally the attendance will be higher than almost every NMSU game.

Can't wait for the Los Lunas-Belen showdown this week.  I'm a little disappointed it's on a Saturday.  A game like that deserves the traditional Friday night lights.

While we're on the topic of rivalries, I think the Cleveland-Rio Rancho game should annually be slated for the last game of the regular season schedule for each school (the same goes for West Las Vegas and Robertson and others).

Balanced attack: The Roswell Coyotes know how to spread the wealth.  They had six different players score rushing touchdowns in their win over Lovington on Friday.

Southern district dominance:  According to the Las Cruces Sun News, Las Cruces (8-1, 5-0 District 3-6A) has won 11 consecutive district games and has outscored teams 249-40 in district play.

Multi-talented: Brandon Baeza of Las Cruces did it all on Friday in the Bulldawgs 55-0 win over Onate.  Baeza caught a touchdown pass, returned a punt for a score and aso recorded an interception on defense.  This kid's a great athlete.
