WASHINGTON D.C. – President Donald Trump praised the potential of the United Nations on Friday while welcoming its secretary general to the White House.

The president told Antonio Guterres that the UN’s power to unite the global community is unique and is being utilized more effectively under his leadership.

“The United Nations has this great, great, it’s almost a power to bring people together like nothing else,” he said. “It hasn’t been used. You are starting to really get your arms around it and I have a feeling that things are going to happen with the United Nations like you haven’t seen before.”

The meeting comes just weeks after Trump’s first UN General Assembly address as president, when he bluntly warned North Korea the U.S. would “destroy” their country if a nuclear conflict develops.
