Lawmakers to reintroduce car theft bill Web Staff

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Some state lawmakers are renewing a push to crack down on car theft.


They're reintroducing a bill that would require all auto recyclers to report any vehicles they purchase to a statewide database. The information in that database would allow police to better track stolen cars -- and whoever is selling them.

The bill would also strengthen penalties for car thieves.
