TULSA, Okla. – Coltin Gerhart got the start at quarterback for the Lobos as they tried to even their season record at 2-2 on the road at Tulsa on Saturday.
He quickly provided, breaking free for a touchdown on the first drive of the game for the first of only two times both teams would reach the endzone.
In the fourth quarter of a tie game, it was Bijon Parker coming up big with an interception of Tulsa’s Chad President to set up the Lobos up at their own 43-yard line. That led to the game-winner by Jason Sanders, who kicked a 53-yarder through the uprights as time ran out to prevent going into overtime and lift the Lobos to victory.
New Mexico returns to Albuquerque next Saturday to play Air Force.
